Cooling Refrigerants of the Future.

A refrigerant is a liquid that is stored in your AC coils, which help cool and dehumidify the indoor air. If we didn’t have refrigerants, we wouldn’t have air conditioning. For a long time, the most common AC refrigerant was R-22 (Freon), but in 2012 the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) mandated the phase-out of R-22 through the Clean Air Act. By 2020, R-22 will no longer be legal to produce due to its negative effects on the environment.

Introducing R-410A

R-410ATo reduce environmental impacts, all Lennox® products are now designed to work with the new R-410A AC refrigerant. R-410A is EPA-recognized and is free of chlorine, making it ozone-friendly. You can feel at ease using this refrigerant in Ridgedale and the Branson area because it’ll help make your cooling system work efficiently, reliably and quietly, and deliver the same cool comfort in the warmer months.

Additional Considerations

If your AC or heat pump was manufactured before 2010, it may not be R-410A-compatible. You may want to think about upgrading your cooling system before R-22 is completely out of production. The old refrigerant will become hard to find in the next few years, costing you more to operate your system effectively. The Lennox products we offer at Branson HVAC, LLC work with R-410A, so you can be sure we have an AC or heat pump you can better rely on. Additionally, avoid”alternate refrigerants that claim to work in R-22 systems. These include R-407C, R-438A and R-422, all of which can actually compromise your system’s performance.
